Oatly has launched Barista Lighter Taste into retail stores across the UK.
The variant has a lower fat level, at 2.1% compared to 3% of the original Barista Edition.
It is designed to allow more of the nuances of flavour notes in lighter roasted coffee to come through by striking the balance between coffee and oats. This complements the variety of coffee roasting styles many baristas are currently using, the brand said.
The new innovation however maintains all of the same performance capabilities as the original Barista Edition, allowing it to froth and foam.
“The creation of Barista Lighter Taste is the next step of our Barista strategy as we look to expand the choice and format options for customers and consumers,” said Bryan Carroll, general manager at Oatly UK&I.
Barista Lighter Taste follows recent releases of the larger Barista Edition 1.5l cartons, as well as the smaller Jiggers (individual 20ml on-the-go single serves) and Barista 500ml formats which launched into the UK last year.
The product was developed earlier this year and launched as a trial in a select number of coffee outlets, gaining feedback from baristas across Europe.
It has now launched into the UK with a new name and packaging redesign.
The brand said the new variant also works in tea and other hot beverages as well as in baking and cereal.
