There has been a mixture of reactions from customers regarding the news that M&S and Ocado have struck up a joint venture together. The move that ends Ocado’s 19-year relationship with Waitrose and will see M&S introduce a full online food delivery service for the first time. While some are looking forward to getting M&S products to their door, others are reluctant to see Waitrose’s range go.
Here’s what some shoppers had to say:
Very sad about @Ocado ditching @waitrose in favour of M&S 😞 rubbish!!!!

@waitrose how are you going to make sure that your customers, who live outside your delivery zone and up until now have been using Ocado, can still buy your products? Absolutely gutted to hear this morning that I will no longer be able to buy from Waitrose through Ocado

Just placed my first @waitrose order for home delivery. Have been with @Ocado almost since they started but I am a #Waitrose girl at heart and need plenty of time to adjust to a new system

Sorry, #MiddleClassProblem alert but if the M&S deal with Ocado means they drop Waitrose products then so many people (myself included) won’t use it any more.

Disaster @Ocado will no longer be stocking Waitrose products, I don’t care for @marksandspencer as they don’t have the same range of organic or higher welfare standard produce, I won’t go to Waitrose direct as they don’t stock the other organic brands I get from Ocado.. bad move

@Ocado Thanks for the heads up. Hate M&S so you’ll be losing our business. 13 years ordering Waitrose and Ocado products. Not sure how you think this will work. Watch the average weekly spend plummet and your regulars move away.

@waitrose I don’t live inside your delivery zone (the closest store is Sheffield) and up until now have been using Ocado, how will I be able buy your products online? Absolutely heartbroken I will no longer be able to buy from Waitrose through Ocado.

@Ocado Just my view, but I really hope you aren’t planning to split from Waitrose in favour of M&S - they simply don’t have the range or quality to replace them. Might be a good choice to compliment what Waitrose sell, but you can’t do a full shop there or get the same quality.

Sad day for @waitrose fans - I’ve shopped with @Ocado since the beginning but I won’t be following them to @marksandspencer😟

Well goodbye @ocado you’ll be losing me as a customer. I want @waitrose stuff, not M&S. Time to try the #waitrose home delivery service. #ocadoditcheswaitrose#ocado

@Ocado Disappointed with the M&S deal as their range is very limited and mainly readymeal based (even if their ready meals are better than Waitrose) but it’s not a good choice if you actually cook. I think you may regret your choice. @waitrose who’s bringing me my shopping now?

The M&S & @ocado deal is not good news for us, we like Waitrose own brand stuff and don’t want the overpriced M&S stuff. I guess that means we’ll switch to Waitrose home delivery when the time comes.
