A power outage on Sunday resulted in many Ocado customers being unable to use the online grocer’s mobile app.
Disgruntled customers reported the app deleting shopping lists, “behaving abnormally”, and crashing multiple times.
The glitch looks as if some customers may have been forced to shop elsewhere. “I’m gonna have to go to a shop” tweeted one customer.
Various customers complained of getting “exception” messages including “404” and “505” denoting “Webservice failure”.
Ocado wrote on Twitter in reply to a customer who said he was having problems shopping on multiple devices: “Yes we are experiencing some technical issues at the moment. Our IT team are working to fix this ASAP.”
Ocado told the same customer: “We’re currently unsure of a time when this will be fixed. If you can try later today please let us know how you get on.”
A later Ocado tweet read: “Sorry guys, it’s time to head home, if you’re still having problems with the app please try the main site, we’ll be back at 8am.”
“Due to a power outage on Sunday the Ocado app was unfortunately out of operation for a short time. The issue was resolved in three hours and customers were still able to place orders for the next day,” said an Ocado Spokeswoman.
