Ocado has appointed Dixons Carphone deputy chief executive Andrew Harrison as an independent non-executive director.
Harrison, who will be a member of the remuneration, audit and nomination committees, will take up his new role on 1 March.
Chairman Lord Rose said Harrison brought “significant retail and technology experience” and the online grocer would benefit from his new insight.
Harrison added he was excited to joint at a time when Ocado “leads the shift of the grocery market towards online”.
Ocado also announced David Grigson, senior independent director and non-executive director, intended to retire at the company’s annual general meeting on 4 May.
Lord Rose, who will succeed Grigson as chairman of the nomination committee, described him as “a tremendous asset” during the past six years.
Alex Mahon, who joined the board in June 2012 as an independent non-executive director, will become senior independent director from the same date.
