Eco cleaning start-up Ocean Saver has surpassed its £1m crowdfunding goal to increase brand awareness and invest in NPD.
Founded by John Buitekant in 2018, the business sells a wide range of plastic-free, plant-based cleaning refills, which are combined with water in a reusable bottle.
Ocean Saver said it had already saved more than one-million plastic bottles from reaching the oceans – the equivalent of 75 tonnes of plastic.
Business has more than quadrupled year on year since it launched, with more than 35,000 new customers brought into the brand and DTC average order value up 100% in the past 18 months.
Its products are also stocked by Tesco, Dunelm, Amazon, Ocado, Abel & Cole, Bother and at more than 50 of UK eco-retailers.
The company has so far raised just more than £1m in the Seedrs campaign – which has one week left to run – from in excess of 550 investors, valuing it at £4m.
Funds will be invested in marketing the brand, NPD to broaden the range and infrastructure to optimise the supply chain and increase efficiencies while reducing the carbon footprint.
MD Dee Bulsara said: “We want to rid the cleaning aisle of single-use plastic and make every household in the UK an Ocean Saver.
“So far, we’ve helped save over one-million bottles from reaching the ocean so, and we’ve only just begun. We have lots of exciting products in our pipeline, and some big marketing plans to help increase our brand awareness. We are ready to super charge our growth and create a nation of Ocean Savers.”
