Vegan brand Oggs is entering the chilled desserts category.
The brand has created a duo of Melt in the Middle puddings in two flavours, Chocolate and Sticky Toffee Pudding.
The puddings are billed as offering “an indulgent melting centre with light fluffy sponge” and are made with the brand’s core aquafaba in place of eggs.
The “search for plant-based options” for dessert “can still be a challenge”, said the brand’s founder Hannah Carter, adding it would roll out “in time for autumn and ahead of Christmas festivities when finding a great plant-based alternative to Christmas pudding is difficult”.
The snacks’ packaging is also made from recycled materials and is itself fully recyclable.
They will roll into Sainsbury’s from 10 October (rsp: £2.75).
The brand made its name for itself with egg replacement aquafaba but has since kicked off a major expansion push into other categories such as snack bars, of which it launched a four-strong range – vegan Brownie, Flapjack, Millionaire and Tiffin – in July.
It was “the Oggs mission to make sustainable, plant-based products that taste just as good if not better than their egg-based equivalents and to make them accessible for all”, said Carter at the time.
