Tesco has launched a family meal deal in its c-store chain One Stop but is yet to run such offers in Tesco stores themselves.
The ‘£5 family breakfast’ promotion, which runs until 28 April, includes a pack of eight Richmond sausages, a box of six One Stop-branded caged eggs, a loaf of sliced white own-label bread, the choice of either eight slices of own-label unsmoked or smoked bacon, and the choice of a litre of own-label orange, apple juice or exotic juice.
One Stop claimed the deal would save shoppers £2.38. It follows similar high-profile deals run by Morrisons, Sainsbury's (Feed your Family for a Fiver), and The Co-op Group (currently running a salmon meal for two for £5 deal). Tesco itself is yet to run any similar deals. Last year it claimed it could feed a family of four for less than £5 a day through a seven-day meal plan, but the plan was criticised because the price was calculated per portion.
“While One Stop is owned by us, it does have its own strategy, customer segmentation and demographic, so because Tesco has not run certain offers, this has little bearing on a One Stop strategy,” a Tesco spokesman said.
