One Stop x Uber Eats

Five hundred One Stop stores will be shoppable via Uber Eats by the end of the year, the courier platform has announced.

More than 100 stores have gone live on the Uber Eats app over the last month, with 400 more to be listed by the end of the fourth quarter.

The move comes just months after the Tesco-owned convenience retailer partnered with Uber Eats rival Just Eat, to offer a range of 500 grocery items including bread, milk, toiletries and snacks from 40 stores. Just Eat’s stated ambition for the partnership is to offer delivery for up to 500 company-owned stores. One Stop has been working with Deliveroo since late 2020, to offer customers delivery from around 200 stores.

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Uber Eats and as always, we are committed to making it as easy as possible for our customers to shop with us,” said Jonny McQuarrie, MD at One Stop.

“Customers will be able to have great quality products at their doorstep within minutes. We look forward to offering the Uber Eats service to both our existing loyal customers and new customers across the country,” he added.

One Stop said the latest deal would not impact on existing courier platform partnerships. A number of stores will offer delivery with all three platforms, while other stores may be listed on just one or two platforms, largely dependant on platform coverage.

“One Stop shops are known for their convenience and play an integral part in many communities,” said Alex Troughton, head of new verticals and grocery at Uber Eats UK.

“We’re excited to have them on board the Uber Eats app, allowing us to offer our customers an even wider variety of grocery and convenience goods seven days a week,” he added.

The One Stop partnership signals a strengthening relationship between Tesco – of which One Stop is a subsidiary since an acquisition in 2003 – and Uber Eats. Last week, Tesco announced it was working with Uber Eats to leverage its network of couriers to deliver orders for the supermarket’s one-hour service Whoosh. Despite being delivered by Uber Eats couriers, Whoosh orders are not made on Uber’s platform, but via Tesco.com or the Tesco Grocery and Clubcard app.
