One Stop is set to install LED lights at all its company-owned stores one year ahead of schedule.
Last year, during The Grocer’s Switch The Lights campaign, the Tesco-owned c-store chain revealed plans to fit LED lights across its 770-strong estate by the end of 2018.
However, the business has now committed to converting 300 stores in the current financial year after agreeing a ‘significant’ company investment and securing a £50,000 government grant. “The environmental benefits and significant, long-term savings from installing LED lighting are abundantly clear,” said One Stop finance and property director Mark Everitt. “The investment should allow us to complete the conversion across our estate by the end of 2017.”
One Stop’s three distribution centres in Brownhills, Nursling and Wakefield, plus its Brownhills Support Centre, will also benefit from the switchover.
Switch the Lights has also gained support from retailers such as M&S, Sainsbury’s and Iceland.
