Wylde Market

Online farmers market Wylde has crowdfunded more than £200k to help it scale its platform, which allows shoppers to buy directly from British food producers.

Wylde operates a weekly market between Friday and Wednesday, giving producers the chance to sell directly to online customers and set their own prices.

It has so far raised over £230k, having targeted £175k. The round values the company at £6m, with the money to be invested in marketing to fuel customer acquisition.

The company has already raised £680k through angel investors including the co-founder of Ottolenghi, Noam Bar.

Wylde works with dozens of fishermen, farmers, hunters, foragers, and food artisans, meeting with all of them to test their commitment to sustainability and conservation.

Wylde says it pays producers directly, taking a 33% commission. It holds no stock or fleet of its own, meaning “the business model is highly scalable with minimal capital investment, offering efficiency and growth potential”, it said.

Customers can order from across the marketplace and receive the goods in a single box for £10 delivery anywhere in Great Britain.
