Personal care startup Optiat, which adds used coffee grounds to its body scrubs, is overfunding in its first-ever crowdfunding initiative, passing the £150,000 target within the first week.
The London brand kicked off a Crowdcube drive on 30 January with the aim of raising £150,000 in exchange for 6.98% of equity.
As The Grocer went to press, the month-long campaign had reached more than £197,000 from 316 investors.
Launched in April 2016 by siblings William and Anna Brightman, Optiat is a ‘nature-friendly beauty company’. The Brightmans plan to spend the funds on larger production runs, R&D and marketing.
