Former HBOS chief executive Andy Hornby is set to earn more that £1m a year as Alliance Boots chief executive. It is just three months since Hornby left HBOS after the near-collapse of the bank.

Finn Cottle has been made a consultant to the Organic Trade Board, the trade body of the organic industry. Cottle – previously of Sainsbury's, Somerfield and the Noble Foods Group – aims to help the board double organic sales within five years.

After seven years in charge, current chief John Cormode will leave in September to begin a doctorate in organisational change at Sussex and Brighton Universities’ Centre of Innovation in Management.
Meat producer Vion has appointed Ton Vernaus to be its new chief financial officer and a member of the executive board. The position is based in the Netherlands. Vernaus will succeed Ton Lammers, who retires at the end of 2009.
