History
Alex Hannon had previously worked for Ernst & Young and with probiotics drink company Yakult when it launched into the UK in 1996 before deciding to establish her own company. She had studied in Japan for two years, where she regularly drank cold green tea, and on a return trip to the country with co-founder Anthony Thresh she decided that the drink would work over here.
Products
Mangajo produces five drinks - Pomegranate & Green Tea, Acai-berry & Green Tea, Goji-berry & Green Tea, Lemon Green Tea, and Refreshing Redbuch - which come in 240ml glass bottles with an rsp of £1.29-£1.49. It also produces one canned drink - Kombucha - which has an rsp of £1.19. The flavours are inspired by each of the continents.
Company
The company is based Hayes in Middlesex and employs eight staff. It runs its own central London van sales operation, which supplies direct to a number of small retailers. The brand is also available in a number of national retailers. Hannon is in charge of marketing and product development while Thresh, who has a background in engineering, deals with the export side of the business.
