Asda is to launch its own version of the Oscars next year as a way to motivate staff. The Asda Oscars will run in addition to Asda's existing Employee of the Month/Year scheme and will involve awarding employees for outstanding achievements in various fields. They will be presented annually at a special ceremony. Asda people director David Smith said: "We're introducing the Asda Oscars as a way of giving outstanding staff national recognition. "Of course our workers get recognition on a weekly basis, but this will be a way of bringing them together for a national celebration. We hope it gains real currency within the business." Asda said it runs a wide variety of recognition schemes for its staff, such as its Golden Greeters award for the member of staff who best welcomes customers into its stores. However, the Asda Oscars are intended to be an overarching programme, picking up on facets of the different schemes run across the chain. {{NEWS }}
