Palmer & Harvey is launching Bakedirect, a new van sales operation for fresh bread and morning goods.
Bakedirect, which will operate from 25 vans within the M25, will work with key suppliers including Warburtons, Premier Foods and McVitie’s to distribute baked goods to London-based retailers with no minimum drop charge.
P&H said the new service would be a huge time saver for retailers who would normally visit a cash & carry and shopkeepers would also benefit from a sales representative to help with merchandising and give category advice, unlike other wholesalers.
Bakedirect will join Sweetdirect and Snacksdirect as part of the P&H direct van sales brands.
“Our expertise in this area, as the UK’s number one direct-to-store van sales operation, ensures that retailers not only have unrivalled service, but also guaranteed profit when it comes to their impulse and baked ranges,” said P&H MD of direct van sales Noel Robinson.
“We look forward to working closely with our suppliers on this new venture, with the view to further expand the Bakedirect offer in the future.”
Warburtons head of sales development Mark Jones added: “We are proud to play a central role in bringing Bakedirect to fruition, Not only will this partnership allow us to bring some of the nation’s number one bakery products to even more shelves and shoppers in the London area, it also builds on our legacy of strong relationships with the independent retail sector.”
