A 200-strong fleet of vehicles formerly owned by Palmer & Harvey is set to come up for auction next week.
This tranche of vehicles includes the remaining vans from the P&H fleet that Bestway Wholesale did not buy, The Grocer understands.
The vehicles that will be auctioned on Tuesday and Wednesday include Mercedes box and fridge vans, DAF Frigoblock fridge boxes and box vans, Iveco Eurocargo Frigoblock fridge boxes, Scania Frigoblock fridge boxes, Gray & Adams fridge trailers and electric forklifts and pallet trucks.
The auction has been scheduled on the instructions of joint administrator PwC and independent financial services company Hilco Global, which PwC engaged to collect and sell the vehicles.
Bestway bought 180 vans from the collapsed assets of P&H’s Snacksdirect and Sweetdirect business last week.
The deal with Bestway, for an undisclosed price, will see the wholesaler launch a van sales business to service more than 20,000 retailers and caterers fortnightly, starting from Monday.
