Panadol has unveiled sub-brand Panmigrol, aimed at tackling migraine pain.

It has launched in two variants of film-coated tablets featuring acetylsalicylic acid 250mg, paracetamol 250mg and caffeine 65g. Panmigrol Migraine & Headache Relief is available to grocery in a pack of 10 (rsp: £3.75), while Panmigrol Migraine Pain Relief will be found in pharmacies in packs of 10 (rsp: £3.75) and 20 (rsp: £6.50).

All were “designed to provide faster and more effective migraine relief than standard ibuprofen tablets and can start to relieve migraine pain in 30 minutes”, said Panadol. They would provide “up to six hours of pain relief”.

The innovation is aimed at the approximately 10 million people in the UK who experience migraines. “Panadol recognised the impact this condition can have on people’s lives and so have launched Panmigrol to provide powerful migraine relief,” the brand added.

Panmigrol’s triple-action formulation included “a pain reliever plus a booster, and works by blocking pain signals, elevating the pain threshold, using caffeine to enhance the pain relief effect”. Designed for consumers aged 18 and older, it helps fight migraine symptoms including nausea, sensitivity to light and sound, and functional disability.

“It is recognised that it is best to take acute medicines as soon as a migraine attack starts,” said Kate Fabrikant, medical lead for northern Europe at Panadol owner Haleon. “The launch of Panmigrol offers patients an option to reduce symptoms as soon as possible.”

The launch will be supported with a dedicated media campaign targeting migraine sufferers running from April, focusing on digital activation, in-store execution and expert engagement to drive awareness.

It comes after Panadol last week added Capsules (rsp: £4.75/16) – “the first-ever liquid capsule paracetamol in Great Britain”. It is rolling out this month across grocery, convenience and wholesale channels.
