Children’s drink brand Panda is attempting to cast off its cheap and cheerful image with a revamp of the entire range.
From April 3 the drinks will be repackaged in a streamlined bottle, with labelling designed to appeal to an older age group.
The range will consist of three types: carbonated Panda Pops, Panda Still and a new range of flavoured waters called Panda Spring, available in banana
& strawberry, blackcurrant, apple, and blackcurrant & blueberry flavours. Other additions include strawberry & banana and apple & blackcurrant flavours Panda Still, and a lime Panda Pops flavour. The company has chosen to scrap its blue raspberry and strawberry jelly & ice cream flavours.
A £2m campaign breaking in the spring to support the range will see Panda Pops advertising on television for the first time.
Brand owner Vimto Soft Drinks, which bought Panda from brewer Hall & Woodhouse in January last year, said it was responding to the demand for healthier, more grown-up drinks for children. All the drinks have been reformulated to contain fruit juice as well as no added sugar or artificial flavours.
