Palmer & Harvey McLane, the UK's biggest wholesaler, has acquired Leeds-based wholesaler WH & HM Young for an undisclosed sum.
WH & HM Young is a member of buying group Key Lekkerland and is the second Key Lekkerland member to be snapped up by P&H in five months. In August, P&H acquired south west-based wholesaler T&A Symonds.
WH & HM Young's depot will be redeveloped and integrated into P&H's network of 15 depots and will provide chilled and ambient ranges.
“The acquisition of Youngs represents an excellent strategic fit and will bring P&H closer to its goal as being the supplier of choice for both ambient and chilled goods,” said P&H CEO Chris Etherington.
Lee Furness, MD of Youngs, added: “Being a part of a much larger organisation will allow us to grow the business in an increasingly competitive marketplace and the ability to offer both chilled and fresh alongside ambient products will appeal to our existing and prospective customer base.”
