Independent not-for-profit retailer Hollins Green Community Shop in Warrington has been named Palmer and Harvey’s Retailer of the Month.
The store, which trades as The Village Shop, has been a P&H member since January and was recognised for running youth engagement projects, championing the independent sector and commitment to providing extra value to its customer base.
Winner of 90 outers from the P&H Independent brand range, manager Julie Atkinson has a team of four paid staff and 30 volunteers.
“While Hollins Green Community Shop is a relatively new business they have already made a clear impression on the local community,” said P&H sales and marketing director Jez Pegg.
“In just four months Julie and her team’s proactive approach to providing a variety of added-value initiatives has brought the shop to our attention. We wish them every success in their continued efforts to reinvigorate and improve their local community and look forward to supporting them.”
The Retailer of the Month award was launched as part of Palmer & Harvey’s 90th birthday celebrations to recognise independent retailers around the country who lead the way with best industry practice.
“Winning the Retailer of the Month award means so much to us - what an achievement! Not only does Hollins Green Community Shop offer convenience products, it has also become a real hub for the village, where people can enjoy a friendly conversation over a hot drink and a slice of homemade cake,” said store manager Julie Atkinson.
“We have already received positive customer feedback on the Independent lines we currently stock and this prize will give us a fantastic opportunity to expand on this.”
