Parfetts Cash & Carry has launched a campaign against Tesco after claiming that the retailer has exceeded its planning limit for a Tesco Extra store in Stockport.
Outline planning permission, gained for the site in 2003, limited its size to 101,500 sq ft. However, the new store, which opened in November and is believed to be one of the biggest UK superstores, has exceeded this stipulation by 18,000 sq ft, according to Parfetts.
Tesco is believed to have lodged a restrospective planning application, but Parfetts MD Steve Parfett said: “This is another example of big business riding roughshod over everything in its way.”
