Wholesaler Parfetts is on track to boost its symbol group estate by 200 this year.
It would see its Go Local, Go Local Extra and new off-licence-inspired The Local banners hit 850 stores, up from 650 in May 2021.
“We are more focused than ever on recruiting retailers while developing our logistics operation to support our larger geographical footprint.,” said acting MD Guy Swindell.
“The launch of The Local, our off-licence-focused brand, has generated a lot of attention in the market and has certainly kept our development team busy. It’s pleasing to see the Go Local brand continue to go from strength to strength as we develop our symbol group offering.”
The focus of the expansion has been in the north east and Midlands.
Meanwhile, the retail team, which is led by Steve Moore, has expanded in order to service the growing estate.
Ex-Nisa retailer Navpreet Kaur switched her 1,400 sq ft store in Hull to a Go Local Extra format in April. Since then it has seen sales triple. New chiller units were fitted, along with increased shelving space, as well as a range of Parfetts’ Go Local own-brand stock.
“Parfetts represents great value for money, which is what my customers are looking for,” said Kaur. “This, combined with great promotions and strong team support, were the main reasons for partnering with Parfetts and Go Local. I feel that as a community-focused store we’re providing much more of a service than just being a local shop.”
She added: “The store plays an important role in supplying lots of local people in the surrounding community with their everyday shopping needs. Many of our customers who are regular visitors to the store have come to rely on us, particularly over the past year or so.”
