Retailers will get access to free advice and entry to events and forums

PayPoint retailers will have free access to ACS resources and events, thanks to a new partnership saving independents just under £200 a year on fees.

The partnership will provide free ACS membership, offering support and best practice, to thousands of PayPoint One retailers across the UK.

PayPoint retailers will join 33,000 members who access the ACS content on the PayPoint One website, which offers advice on business rates, energy, regulation and legal queries, as well as free entry to events and forums.

“We are delighted to be working with PayPoint to extend the benefits of ACS membership to retailers using the PayPoint One system, including our Assured Advice scheme, which ensures that all local enforcement authorities have to respect the in-store procedures of retailers who follow our guides,” said ACS chief executive James Lowman.

The ACS said it did not anticipate having to refund existing members who now qualify for free membership. If there was a crossover it would likely be marginal, it said.

The payment technology company will work together with the ACS on events and communications, focusing on future developments of in-store technology.

Lewis Alcraft, commercial director for PayPoint, said: “The ACS are the leading industry body representing thousands of convenience retailers across the UK and I’m delighted to be working with them closely to drive better standards, best practice and helping more retailers engage in the important work the ACS do.”

The announcement comes in the wake of PayPoint signing an agreement with rent-to-own company BrightHouse last week. The partnership will enable BrightHouse customers to make repayments at any of PayPoint’s 28,000 retailers nationwide.
