Five thousand convenience stores across the UK will begin offering click & collect services next year, under a new partnership between Payzone and HubBox.
A third of Payzone’s 15,000 convenience store customers have signed up to the HubBox click & collect network, which enables customers to pick up deliveries from more than 80 retailers including Jack Wills, Warehouse and Oddbins.
The exact launch date is not yet finalised, but all stores should have the service by “peak 2018”.
Once live, customers will be able to type in their postcode at the retailer’s checkout to locate their nearest collection point. If they select the click & collect option, they will receive a unique identifier that will enable them to pick up their package within a maximum of 14 days.
HubBox said the deal would drive traffic into convenience stores and provide them with an “alternative revenue stream”.
The deal will represent a coup for the click & collect network, taking its number of pickup points from 1,000 to 6,000.
“The partnership with Payzone is a key component of our strategy to become the most accessible and wide-reaching click & collect provider in the UK,” said HubBox CEO Sam Jarvis.
Payzone’s head of product convenience Damian Scholes added: “Convenience services are at the heart of our business model, in each of our 15,000 locations across the UK. We’re thrilled to be forming a partnership to offer our customers a convenient parcel service.”
