United Biscuits is hoping more mums will ‘pick up a Penguin’ for their kids following the addition of calcium to the range and the launch of two new lines.
Calcium-enriched standard Penguin bars will hit shelves later this year, but two new products with added calcium –Penguin Big Stix and Penguin Bakes – are available now. Big Stix are twin-packs of milk chocolate-covered biscuit sticks with chocolate chips, rsp £1.55 for a box of six, and Penguin Bakes are soft bars with a chocolate flavoured filling, rsp £1.55 for six.
Reformulated Penguin Wafers, originally launched in February, are also on shelf now. The products provided 25% of children’s RDA, said UB commercial manager Nick Stuart.
“Mums see calcium as an important factor in the purchasing decision, as they are aware that calcium is important for their children,” he said. “Adding calcium to the Penguin range gives additional benefits to these well-loved biscuits.”
