PepsiCo has signed an agreement with Baghdad Soft Drinks Company to make and distribute Pepsi, 7-Up and other soft drinks in Iraq by the end of June.
President of the Middle East/Africa region of PepsiCo International, Saad Abdul-Latif, said: “Iraqis have been great supporters of Pepsi over many years, and we're delighted to resume local production.”
Pepsi was first introduced in Iraq in 1950 and PepsiCo stopped doing business in Iraq in 1990, when trade sanctions were imposed.
PepsiCo said it expects to create about 2,000 new jobs at Baghdad Soft Drinks over the next several years.
