Pepsi has upped its presence on the world sports stage through a global marketing deal with Spain’s premier football club Real Madrid.

“The association with Real Madrid gives our customers an exciting opportunity to increase sales by offering consumers an exciting brand, strongly linked to a key part of their lives,” said Andrew Marsden, category director at Britvic, which distributes the Pepsi brand in the UK.

In 1997 Pepsi launched its Ask for More Football campaign establishing relationships with Manchester United, and world class players such as David Beckham, Roberto Carlos and Rivaldo.

Marsden said: “Pepsi recognises the passion that world class clubs and players bring out in football fans and our goal hasn’t changed - give fans more of what they want - access to the best.”
