PepsiCo UK, the maker of Pepsi and Gatorade, has bought UK fruit and smoothie brand PJ Smoothies for about £20m.
PJ Smoothies sells 300,000 bottles of fruit juice and smoothies a week and is expected to turn over about £15m this year. It currently has a 33% market share.
Martin Glenn, president of PepsiCo UK, said: “We are pleased to announce this acquisition as we believe it will complement our beverage portfolio and offer opportunities in an area that has huge growth potential.”
Other PepsiCo UK brands include Tropicana, Copella, Quaker and Walkers Crisps.
