Pesticide residue levels in foods are unsafe, the Pesticide Action Network has claimed.
In a survey, the Network found that more than 5% of fruit, vegetables and other foods had pesticide residues that posed “appreciable” health risks to consumers. Further studies found that the pesticide Imazalil exceeded the safe limit on 79% of oranges sampled.
Clare Butler Ellis, from the Pesticide Action Network, said: “We think the public are right to be concerned and to try to do something about it.”
