PG Tips is jumping on the functional bandwagon with a trio of PG Tips Plus teas.
The range comprises three variants: PG Tips Plus Caffeine, PG Tips Plus Immunity and PG Tips Plus Metabolism. The brand claims they are the first major black tea to offer “additional benefits” in the UK.
The Caffeine SKU contains extra caffeine and vitamin B6 to help reduce tiredness, while Immunity contains a boost of vitamin C and Metabolism is “packed with” B12 to support the normal functioning of a person’s metabolism, according to PG Tips.
The Unilever-owned brand said the range was “perfectly positioned to broaden the appeal of black tea amongst consumers who love a cuppa but turn to other drinks to give them the added benefits they are looking for”.
PG Tips senior brand manager Charlotte Ridley added shoppers could now enjoy their favourite cuppa with “added goodness”, without having to change their routine.
The three-strong range will hit Asda, Ocado, Co-op and Amazon in October, followed by Waitrose in November (rsp: £2.50).
