French brand Piat d’Or is moving into the fast-growing sparkling wine market with the launch of a new wine at the London International Wine & Spirits Fair.
In order to appeal to existing and new consumers, Piat d’Or set up a 150-strong consumer tasting panel to sample different blends of sparkling wine to fit into a market which is growing by 15% in volume a year, according to ACNielsen [MAT to July 2004].
The wine consists of Ugni Blanc, Colombard and Chenin from Vin de Pays d’Oc. It will be available in Thresher from May, and Somerfield and Kwik Save from June this year, with an rsp of £5.99.
