Upmarket babyfood brand Piccolo has added a duo of high-fibre snacks – Oaty Bars and Mighty Melts.
Oaty Bars are made with multigrains and billed as containing no sugar, instead using inulin from agave, a pre-biotic fibre, and aimed at on-the-go snacking for 12 months-plus tots. They are vegan and gluten-free (£2.95/6x20g).
Mighty Melts, meanwhile, were a “natural finger food” said the brand. They are made with real yoghurt, which Piccolo said gave “a soft melting effect on little palates” with a “natural, fruity yoghurt taste” (rsp: 85p/6g).
Fibre was ”an essential part of ltitle ones’ diets, as it has been shown to support digestive systems”, said Piccolo co-founder and infant nutritionist Alice Fotheringham. “Our aim is to support parents by providing healthy, fibre-rich snacks which also have the added bonus of being one of their 5 a day.”
Mighty Melts will hit Sainsbury’s from 13 September, while Oaty Bars will debut in a new retailer for the brand from 28 September.
Piccolo founder Cat Gazzoli added the duo were ”made by my family who knows what growing families are like – especially the balancing act of feeding little ones snacks that pack a punch while being high in fibre”.
It’s the latest in a series of launches for the brand: the past year alone has seen Piccolo launch into baby formula – for which it recently launched its first major out-of-home marketing push – and roll out numerous sustainable packaging innovations such as a 100% recyclable babyfood pouch.
