Piccolo has launched a 14-strong range for kids, taking the brand into new territory.
The new range includes squeezy fruits, squeezy yoghurts, crispy sticks, popped chips, biscuits, fruit & grain bits, multigrain cereal hoops and a cupcake mix. They will roll out with packs featuring the brand’s ‘World of Monsters’ theme in a bid to “tap into the fun that children are looking for”.
It is the first time the brand has offered kids products in many of these categories, including healthy snacking, breakfast, lunchbox and home baking.
They are all non-HFSS and were designed to offer parents an alternative to unhealthy snacks for children, said the brand’s founder Cat Gazzoli.
It could be “extremely daunting when moving out of baby as there isn’t an existing destination for parents in store”, she said. “Instead, parents are forced to buy adult products with ingredients that are beneficial to kids’ health and development.”
Ninety-one per cent of packaging used across the range is recyclable, including fully recyclable pouches and cereal bar wrappers, which Piccolo said were “commonly made with non-renewable materials”. There was “more work underway to reach 100% recyclability”, it added.
The range has rolled into Asda, with Tesco to follow from 7 November (rsp: £2.20-£4.50).
