Planet Organic has added to its specialist breads offering with the introduction of a gluten-free and vegan range by London’s Good Grain Bakery.
The line-up includes sliced loaves in brown, seeded and caraway varieties (rsp: £3.25/450g), as well as crostini snack packs in beetroot & thyme, caraway & molasses and lightly salted variants (rsp: £1.70/70g).
The breads are rolling out across Planet Organic’s seven London stores from today (11 August), with the retailer offering 20% off all Good Grain Bakery products throughout August.
Planet Organic saw a 21% increase in sales last year, reaching £20.8m as the result of increased interest from health-conscious consumers [The Grocer Top 50 Independents 2016].
“We have a number of gluten-free bakery brands that perform very well for us and we are seeing a lot of innovation within this category at the moment, whether that be paleo breads or variations of raw breads,” said the retailer’s founder, Renée Elliot.
Tara Taylor, founder of Good Grain Bakery, added: “For years, there were no suitable vegan and gluten-free breads available for my family and friends, Whenever we did stumble upon something. it tasted bland or unlike real bread.”
