Planet Organic has started selling salads, sandwiches, stews and desserts through “premium” food delivery platform Supper.
Customers using the Supper app – which pitches itself at the “well-heeled and hungry” in London – can order a selection of hot and cold food-to-go from the organic supermarket chain’s two Tottenham Court Road branches.
Customers can order from breakfast to early evening, Monday to Friday.
It is the first time Planet Organic has offered delivery of its products, choosing Supper over alternatives like Deliveroo and Just Eat due to it being “perfectly aligned” with the company’s ethos of “quality, service and high customer expectations”, said the supermarket’s food service director Caroline Ottoy.
“We’re very excited to launch and believe it will be well received,” Ottoy added.
Supper launched in 2015, delivering food via custom-made “cute Japanese scooters” fitted with large storage boxes which can better maintain a meal’s temperature, the start-up said. The technology meant “your food won’t get thrown around in a backpack” Supper added.
Deliveries are currently limited to London Zone 1, and have a fixed fee set by the restaurant. There is also a 9% service fee on food orders. Orders can be made up to a week in advance.
The start-up’s restaurant partners include Cinnamon Kitchen, Farzi Café, By Chloe, Homeslice and Jean Georges at the Connaught. Among the items available on the platform is 30g of Imperial Beluga caviar for £440 and a 750ml bottle of 2005 Dom Perignon Brut Rose for £650 – both from Jean Georges at the Connaught.
“Supper is going from strength to strength – with quarterly revenue growth throughout 2019 and 2020 forecast to continue that trend – and delivering from great retailers like Planet Organic is a key part of this,” said Supper founder and CEO Peter Georgiou.
