Planet Organic has paused next-day deliveries and warned of potential delays to online orders while it completes the relocation of its Westbourne Grove store.
In a message to customers on Monday, the retailer said it anticipated “potential delays” in the fulfilment and delivery of online orders due to the relocation of its e-commerce team. As a result, it was temporarily unable to offer next-day delivery “until normal service resumes next week.”
“Please rest assured we will be working tirelessly to process and deliver your orders as quickly as possible, and aim to ensure the delay is minimal,” Planet said.
Last week Planet announced it had begun the closure and relocation of its store at 42 Westbourne Grove, to a new site, located at 108 Westbourne Grove just a three-minute walk away.
Planet’s e-commerce team previously operated out of the Westbourne Grove site but will now move to its store in Islington.
The new location is the first “new store” opened by Planet since founder Renée Elliott returned to save the business from administration in April 2023.
Elliott announced the opening alongside company accounts in June, during which she revealed the business had made significant progress with its turnaround plan.
Sales had recovered following a wide-ranging range review, price cuts and work to refocus on Planet’s core ‘organic’ and health foods offer.
She predicted the business would return to profit in 2025, following the appointment of new MD Mark Broomfield in May, with whom Elliott now shares the day-to-day running of the business.
Broomfield would help steer the business through the next stage of its turnaround strategy, which involved a brand refresh unveiled in June.
Elliott launched Planet Organic from the store in Westbourne Grove in 1995. The site was one of 10 stores saved as part of the £800,000 deal Elliott led to acquire the stricken retailer from PO Realisations.
Four Planet Organic stores and a warehouse not included in the deal closed immediately. Planet later closed its store in Balham, leaving it with nine stores in total, all based in London.
