Plant-based chicken alternative brand Tindle will make its UK supermarket debut in Morrisons on Boxing Day with a trio of products aiming to capitalise on Veganuary.
The soya and wheat protein-based products contained only nine “simple” ingredients, said Tindle, which is owned and manufactured by Singapore-based Next Gen Foods.
They had been developed “with chefs, by chefs” and were previously only available in the UK via out-of-home operators including Brewdog pubs, Bird Fried Chicken & Waffle and Clean Kitchen, among others.
Its Wings (160g), Nuggets (180g) and Burgers (240g) lines will retail at £3 each and be available in Morrisons for an initial limited run until 24 January.
Tindle said it was also “working closely with Morrisons to explore longer-term availability”.
Ideal for cooking across a range of global cuisines and culinary applications, Tindle’s retail range were GMO-free and “conveniently packaged for speedy weeknight meals or as shareable spreads for group entertaining – making plant-based dining this January even more easy, enjoyable and delicious than ever”, the brand said.
They were also “juicy, offering mouth-watering taste, texture, and versatility”, and used “a fraction of the land, water and energy needed to produce meat from birds”.
