Poland’s second biggest beer brand is making its debut in the UK off-trade.
Okocim, produced at the Okocim brewery and named after the town from which it originates, will be launching into the UK off-trade in 50cl bottles.
The original lager variant, the 5.5% abv Okocim Jasne Pelne, has been produced at the brewery since 1845, using the traditional Polish Pilsner-style brewing process.
In addition to the original variety, UK distributor Temple Wines is also launching the 7% abv malt beer Okocim Mocne, which will be available in 50cl cans and bottles (rsp: £1.79 to £1.89) and the
5.5% abv golden ale Okocim Palone (rsp: £1.29 to £1.49).
Distributor Temple Wines has already secured listings for the beers at a number of cash and carries, including Bestway Cash & Carry Group and various members of the Today’s Group, including Dhamecha Group.
Neal Nalen, a spokesman for Temple Wines, said: “The range offers consumers three different flavours of authentic Polish beers.”
At a later stage, the company also plans to introduce Okocim’s Karmi Poema di Caffe brand to the UK market. Karmi is a dark low-alcohol beer with 0.5% abv. The beer, which is already available in the US, is described as having sweet chocolate and coffee flavours.
