Tesco has started construction of a £7m local police station for West Midlands Police as part of a £200m redevelopment of West Bromwich town centre.
The 51,500 sq ft West Midlands Police Local Command Unit will replace the current police station on New Street. The regeneration scheme will also provide a 130,000 sq ft Tesco eco-store and petrol station and an additional 207,000 sq ft of other retail and leisure space. The second phase will see a further 153,000 sq ft of retail.
As part of the redevelopment, Tesco also funded the £20m Eaton Valley Primary School.
