Poole’s Pies has won a £4m contract to supply the Tesco Finest range.

From late March, Poole’s will be producing frozen pies, bakes and sausage rolls for Tesco in a deal that marked the first time it had supplied either Tesco or a mult’s premium range.

“Tesco have very demanding standards and we are proud to have been awarded the Finest badge,” said MD Neil Court-Johnston, who acquired the Poole’s business last March. He added that he expected new business to take turnover from £10m to £30m in 2013.

The frozen supplier will enter the chilled pie market this year, and claimed that its prices would be half that of current manufacturers.
