Sir; I was interested to read the letter Popcorn prices not a big deal' by James Peterson, Nottinghamshire (Letters, July 22). In response, we are a dedicated popcorn manufacturer but I was never suggesting that bringing popcorn prices down would change the world or even the euro. I was just suggesting that we are playing our part and if other manufacturers did the same in other areas ­ not just popcorn ­ the price of the shopping basket would reduce dramatically and I understand that is the aim of all the major grocery outlets.
