Frozen food retailer Cook has reported strong Christmas trading figures.
The upmarket ready-meal specialist said like-for-like sales rose 6.1% in the six weeks to Christmas and total sales climbed 12%.
Cook said its South West London stores that launched local delivery services last year performed particularly well.
Festive bestsellers included Cook’s Christmas lunch for eight people, costing £100, and desserts, including its Double Chocolate Bombe and Glazed Winter Fruit Tart.
“It’s great to notch up another record Christmas based on strong like-for-like sales, particularly given the backdrop of a tough year for many of the big supermarkets,” said Cook founder Edward Perry.
“Even the rotten weather failed to dampen our spirits. Consumer demand for top-quality convenience food shows no sign of slowing and we’ve started 2014 in great shape.”
