The British Potato Council has been quick off the mark with a campaign to persuade the nation to vote potato this season.
It has roped in 70 MPs to give their support to the spud and the farming and rural economy that produces it.
Labour MP for The Wrekin Peter Bradley (pictured with the BPC's Potato Pete) forwent his usual political colours to wave a Vote Potato' banner at an Asda store earlier this week.
Far be it for us to suggest that any potato heads might get a few votes at the imminent real General Election.
