Asda is now selling traditionally higher priced new potatoes at the same price as old ware, making it unique among multiples which still try to use a retail ticket to make a point of difference. "Taylor Nelson Sofres research shows that it has increased its market share with both at virtually the same price," said Karl Jenkins, business group director. In the last two years Asda's share has risen by 15% in the past year followed closely by Tesco with 13%. It compares with Sainsbury (+2%), Safeway (+4%) and a drop of 12% by Somerfield. Morrisons are static while traditional greengrocers have continue to see their share fall 25%.
