Poundland has named former McBride chief executive Miles Roberts as non-executive director and senior independent director.
Roberts was CEO of the own-label cleaning products giant for eight years until November 2009 when he left to take the top job at stationery and packaging wholesaler DS Smith – his current role.
He will join the single-priced discounter’s board of directors on 30 October.
Joining at the same time is Tim Jones. Jones, who is group finance director of Mitchells & Butlers, will also be a non-exec, as well as chairman of Poundland’s audit and risk committee.
“These appointments to the board are a major boost to Poundland,” said chairman Darren Shapland.
“Both Miles and Tim will bring valuable senior experience in strategic development and sound financial performance that will be a great asset to Poundland as we continue to grow the business in the UK and abroad,” he added.
Their appointment comes just three months after former Sainsbury’s CFO Shapland was appointed chairman following Andrew Higginson’s announcement as the new chairman of Morrisons.
