Poundland is set to open seven new stores and extend a further three in time for Christmas.
Meanwhile, 39 stores are to gain frozen and chilled food, taking the total number stocking the offer to nearly 250.
Locations set to gain a new Poundland are in Rayleigh in Essex, Southampton, Durham Arnison Retail Park, Huddersfield Retail Park and Northern Ireland’s Larne, Ballymoney and Newtownabbey Retail Park.
The three being extended, to make way for clothing and homeware ranges from Poundland sister brand Pep&Co, are in Bracknell in Berkshire, Consett Hermiston Retail Park in County Durham and Belfast Cityside.
At the same time, Poundland is converting nine branches of Fultons Foods – the frozen food business it acquired last year – to its own fascia or standalone Pep&Co stores, in plans announced last month.
“We’re working flat out to get new stores opened and existing stores refurbished in time for Christmas so that customers can see the best of what Poundland has to offer,” said Poundland MD Barry Williams.
“This is just the latest stage in our transformation, which has seen makeovers at hundreds of stores and a radical revamp of our product ranges. We’ll be pressing ahead with more changes in the new year.”
Poundland also today confirmed plans to open a distribution centre in County Meath, its first in the Republic of Ireland, where it trades as Dealz.
