A fire broke out at Premier Foods’ Bury St Edmunds plant last night, but the company reports that no-one was injured in the blaze.
The maker of Sun-Pat peanut butter and Sarsons vinegar said it is too early to establish the extent of the damage although it admits that trading will be affected.
Newspaper reports quote a spokesperson for the company, who said: “It’s be wrong to say this isn’t going to affect the business but we’ll have a better idea when we’ve looked more at the damage.”
The factory produces Branston pickles and Loyd Grossman cooking sauces.
Shares in the company fell 4.5p last night, or 2% to 218p.
