Bodegas Berberana is celebrating its 130th anniversary by launching a range of premium wines from Rioja.
The Berberana Carta de Oro Etiqueta Negra range - which consists of Joven, Crianza, Reserva and Gran Reserva wines - carries labels featuring modern cues so consumers can easily identify the words Rioja and Reserva - key selling points for Spanish wines. The wine has a
fruitier style than a classic Rioja, according to the company.
Tesco has already confirmed a listing for the Reserva, which will be on shelf by the beginning of next month with an rsp of £8.99. The blend is 80% Tempranillo and 20% Grenache and matured for 24 months in new American oak barriques to add structure and body.
Rioja is one of Spain's most popular wine styles in the UK and brands have been keen to capitalise on the growing consumer demand for wines that are more food-friendly than many New World wines, but still easy to drink.
