Outgoing chief executive at Safeway, Carlos Criado-Perez has said that Tesco has been given too much of a free hand by the UK regulators.
In the wake of Tesco’s clearance by the Office of Fair Trading to buy c-store group Adminstore, Criado-Perez told The Guardian: “Tesco will just sail away. It will become unreachable, and the Competition Commission has perpetrated that. The only thing that could bring Tesco down is its management - and they do not make mistakes.”
