Pret a Manger is to open its first motorway service store in a partnership with Welcome Break.
Located at South Mimms services on the M25 in Hertfordshire, the store is expected to open at the end of this summer. It is serviced by its own kitchen and will offer a wide selection of fresh sandwiches, wraps, baguettes and hot meals from the usual Pret menu.
Opening for a trial period of 12 months, Pret expects to open more stores in service stations if the pilot is a success.
“This is a new area for the Pret business, and one we’re looking forward to exploring,” said Pret a Manger chief executive Clive Schlee.
“We’ll obviously have our own kitchen on the premises, allowing us to serve customers with fresh, natural food, handmade throughout the day.”
Welcome Break chief executive Rod McKie added: “Welcome Break is very excited about the prospect of working with Pret on the UK motorways,”
“I am confident that this trial will be successful and lead to a long term partnership with Pret a Manger.”
